Works of Turkish calligraphers exhibited – Newspaper

TOBA TEK SINGH: Works of art by Turkish calligraphers were displayed in a two-day exhibition that concluded with a workshop at the Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan auditorium in Faisalabad on Tuesday. The event, called Loh-o-Qalam, was organized by the Calligraphers Association of Pakistan.

Works by award-winning calligraphers belonging to Turkey including Ahmad Faras Razzaq, Dawood Bakhtash, Arsika, Jawad Khoran, Kamal Albahri, Usman Chechik, Shreen Abdul Haleem and Muhammad Jaber, and Pakistani calligraphers Irfan Qureshi, Khalid Mahmood Siddiqi, Saeed Nudrat, Rana Ghazanfar Ali and Zubair Mughal, were exposed.

Commissioner Zahid Hussain was the chief guest at the ceremony while Faisalabad Deputy Commissioner Suhail Ashraf handed out awards to the artists. Prof. Irfan Siddiqi, Prof. Wajahat Ali and Fariha Ghaffar from National College of Arts Lahore lectured in the workshop on traditional and modern calligraphy.

ELECTROCUTION: An underage boy was electrocuted by rain on Khurrianwala-Rasoolpura road in Faisalabad on Tuesday.

Rescue 1122 reported Shahjahan, 12, crossing the road through accumulated rainwater.

He suddenly hit a power pole on the side of the road, received electric shocks and died instantly.
