Low-stress hobbies to fight burnout

Have you burned down everything worth watching on Netflix, and now you don’t know what to do with your free time? A whole year of home orders has exhausted many of us in our typical hobbies. But to keep your sanity intact you need something to enjoy after a long day at work or school – so give these hobbies a try!

Learn brush lettering or calligraphy
A few months ago, I hopped onto Amazon in a desperate search for anything to distract myself from work, and ended up buying a brush lettering book with a bundle of brush pens. I opened it immediately when it arrived, and the soothing swirling lettering technique felt oddly therapeutic. My book was full before I knew it.

If you love to create, or just want to be someone who hand-addresses each of her wedding invitations with care… this is the hobby for you! Plus, once you get the hang of it, brush lettering can lead to amazing decor – maybe even worthy of selling on Etsy!

To take a walk
The key to surviving in your home is… getting out of it sometimes. You don’t have to live in the mountains to hike, just find a nice park or trail near you! Being outdoors and active is sure to refresh your mind and soul.

A similar activity that has become essential is a visit to the dog park. If you have a dog, this is a great place to let them use up their energy (which means awesome hugs for you afterwards) while you socialize safely with other dog owners. In addition, you can pet so many dogs there!

Buy a calming video game
Two games recently consumed hundreds of hours of my life, and those are Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley. Both are cute, slow-paced games that let you play the way you want. Taking care of your virtual farm or developing an animal village can be a good solution if you hope to escape to a new world a bit!

Roll the windows down

You can also try taking a drive to get away from home for a while. Open windows mean fresh air and you can play all your favorite songs. Remember to stay safe and keep your eyes on the road!
Don’t know where to go by car? Try to look for the best flowers around. Or head to the local frozen yogurt store for a sweet snack! Nothing seems more invigorating than a delicious fro-yo. While you’re at it, take a look at these fashion tips for road trips.

Be smart
I don’t know about you, but being stuck inside made me tired of looking at the same four walls. Why not do yourself a favor and spice them up? Now is the perfect time to finally embark on this home improvement project.

You can still get crafty and change the vibe of your space without going through a complete home makeover. Pick up canvases and acrylic paints at your favorite craft store and work on custom decor! Another fun DIY decorating option would be to get a white sheet and tie-dye kit, then try your hand at some groovy tapestry.

Taking care of yourself also means maintaining your sanity, finding pleasure in life, and investing in hobbies that you enjoy. To stay alert and avoid exhausting yourself, try something creative, calming, or in harmony with nature.
