Lok Virsa announces art competition on women’s issues
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – October 17, 2021): The National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (NIFTH) Lok Virsa, in collaboration with foreign and Pakistani artists, announced an art competition including calligraphy, painting, sculpture, etc. as “Compassionate Women: Kindness in Action”.
British teacher and artist Anum Farooq is the initiator of the project, which aimed to provide a unique opportunity to participate in an international digital exhibition focused on “women and compassion”, said Executive Director Lok Virsa Talha Ali.
Emerging and established artists, as well as self-taught artists have been encouraged to apply, to lead a cultural shift in the culture on a global scale.
It’s an opportunity for the nation’s women to engage in a conversation through art about their experiences in a global arena.
This would help establish the impact of acts of compassion the artist had received or given.
The candidate should apply with few documents including a brief biography (max 200 words) and an artist statement. Artists must also provide the name, title of the work, date of completion, media format, outline, list of project collaborators with clearly identified individual roles.
The first holders would be selected for an international digital exhibition in December 2021 which would be held virtually.
The selected artists would also be considered for a rotating physical exhibition in prestigious community art platforms in Pakistan.
