Great Music Talent at Songs at St John’s in Asbury Park, NJ
If you’re looking for something fun, check out Songs on St. Johns by the Asbury Park Music Foundation. It’s live music at Sunset Park in Asbury Park and the proceeds go towards music education for young people.
My good friend Pat Guadagno and the very talented Richie Blackwell will perform at the special outdoor event with guest Carolann Solebello. It’s a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. They will play from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and they will have snacks and water as well as some awesome material from the Asbury Park Music Foundation which supports such a great cause.
Pat Guadagno, as many of you may know, is my musical director for The Big Joe Henry Variety Show which takes place on Wednesday evenings in the summer in Seaside Heights. Pat was headlining his own show at the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank for BobFest, a tribute to Bob Dylan which usually takes place in May. He will be at the Basie’s Vogel Theater in November with a group of stars with his tribute to Van Morrison.
Pat’s mellow tones and his knowledge of a huge music library make him a tremendous musical talent here in New Jersey. Seeing it in this setting at Sunset Park in Asbury Park will be a treat.
I’m a big fan of Richie Blackwell who will join Pat Guadagno so well for the music at Asbury Park. Bruce Springsteen called Richie one of his top 5 Jersey Shore musical heroes. In Bruce’s book Born to Run, he explains in detail their friendship and how he used Richie to perform on his album The Wild, the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle. He joined Bruce on stage at Madison Square Garden and at other concerts.
Richie is so down to earth and easy going, he’s a musical treasure and worth the trip to Asbury Park to see Pat and Richie together.
Carolann Solebello is a singer-songwriter who has performed throughout solo and with her folk quartet No Fuss and Feathers. Her soft and compelling voice entertained many as she won numerous writing awards and released her fifth solo album. It’s great that this talent is joining the festivities at Asbury Park.
Enjoy the music and help the Asbury Park Music Foundation continue to provide our youth with music programs and education. It’s a great opportunity to see great talent while helping others.
