Camps, fun activities for children this summer

From unique children’s activities held at Abu Dhabi’s iconic Qasr Al Hosn to a range of art workshops at Al Qattara Arts Center in Al Ain, there’s something for all ages to learn and enjoy. in the main cultural sites in August.

Al Hosn Summer Camp

The Abu Dhabi Children’s Library and Craftsmen’s House is hosting the Al Hosn Summer Camp until August 11 in the historical and cultural site of Qasr Al Hosn. Using traditional and modern techniques, children can learn new skills and create arts and crafts such as decoupage, origami and glass painting. While the first week is for children aged 7 to 10, the second week is for those aged 11 to 15.

On Thursday, August 4, activities include weaving, papel picado (Mexican folk art), tours, workshops at the Craftsmen’s House, while astro doll and mandoo making will take place at the Children’s Library. In addition, several exhibitions such as “The Light in Between”, “General Behaviour”, “Another Perspective” are on the way at the Cultural Foundation, a new pop-up summer café Cakes and Sprinkles and the interactive learning space ” Experience Mars” are among the other attractions. Al Qattara Center for the Arts, Al Ain

The art and heritage destination is organizing a summer camp until August 18. The playful and educational camp offers four different routes: space, nature, archeology, theater and performance. It aims to give children new skills and experiences. Additionally, individuals can fuel their imaginations with several art workshops, exploring everything from oil painting and calligraphy to mosaic.

There are Bait Al Oud lessons on oud, music theory, violin and qanun (stringed instrument). Classes on mosaic masterpieces, oil painting, calligraphy, drawing and painting will be taught by different trainers. The art workshop lasts until the end of the month. The Mina Zayed Center for Art and Design is offering several activities for children until this weekend. Two series of “Summer Club” activities are offered to children aged 6 to 10 and 11 to 14 years old. They can have fun doing educational and recreational programs and group activities until August 7. Separately, there are two ongoing exhibitions: Jill Magi: The Pencil Weft and “In Progress, In Progress”. The center welcomes emerging talent from the United Arab Emirates, the Middle East and South Asia. More details on registration and times can be found on the official website.
